This new initiative seeks to help defend European democracies against populist and autocratic threats that spread disinformation, deny scientific facts, and erode trust in institutions. It maps existing anti-misinformation initiatives across the EU, France, Germany, and the UK while identifying key allies like media outlets, think tanks, and policymakers. Phase 1 crafts a compelling narrative for a “citizen Right to Truth,” engages cross-party champions, drafts a consensus paper, and culminates in a Brussels summit to launch coordinated action. By promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based discourse, the project safeguards liberal democracy, justice, and responses to global challenges like climate change.
Major insights from our work will be shared on our newsletter Sustainable Democracies.
